Asst. Ph.D. Maša Hrelec Patrlj graduated in 1996 from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in the first term of the generation of 6-year studies. She spent two years as a doctor in Emergency Medical Center Zagreb, and after a 5-year residency in 2004, she earned the title of specialist in pediatric surgery. In 2006, she defended her master’s degree, in 2011 she defended her doctoral dissertation, since 2015 she has been a research associate at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, and in 2019 she earned the title of associate professor at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health, J.J. Strossmayer University of Osijek. She received her professional education in numerous hospitals throughout the country and the world, the most important of which were the University Clinic in Hamburg (Germany), Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center (USA), Johns Hopkins University (USA), Norwich University Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital Britannia. She has published a large number of professional and scientific papers, of which about 10 are indexed in Current Content. Rich surgical experience, especially in neonatal surgery and long-term work with children, have enriched her work in a special way and enabled the permanent possibility of counselling and educating parents in the field of pediatric medicine, working with babies and overcoming the problems they deal with on a daily basis.
After extensive clinical experience and more than 20 years of work in the hospital health system, she is increasingly focusing her interest in the field of Integrative Medicine. Aware of the devastating statistics and the increase in the number of chronic diseases, degenerative diseases and cancers, she has been intensively improving herself in the mentioned field for the last few years – looking for the best therapies even outside the strict limits of Western medicine, and she is getting an education in the principles of holistic treatment, which stimulates the body’s own strengths in the fight against disease. She completed numerous professional courses, attended education in Great Britain in the basics of holistic and integrative health, and in Germany in therapeutic and practical training for ozone treatment. The goal was very clean – to offer patients a place where they can get good medical information about their problem and the possibilities of a holistic way of treatment, adapted to their individual needs and without harmful side effects. In integration with all the advantages of western medicine – to improve the health of the organism and thus increase the patient’s chances for healing and a quality life.
Dr. Greta Gunek Mačukat, MD, Specialist in Pediatrics, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Novi Sad in 1989. She completed her postgraduate studies in Mother and Child Protection in 1994 in Zagreb.
Dr. Tomislav Kukin graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1978, became a specialist in anaesthesiology and resuscitation in 1984, and has been working continuously as an anaesthesiologist-intensivist since then. In 1987, he started working at the Neurosurgery Clinic of KBC Zagreb. During the following years, he performs the duties of an anaesthesiologist/intensivist for neurosurgical patients and continuously works in the Center for pain management of the KBC Zagreb. During his further career, he completed a subspecialisation in intensive care.
Parallel with his regular clinical work at the hospital, he is extremely active as a doctor in top amateur and professional sports. He starts working in the gymnasium athletic section, soon becomes the doctor of the athletic club, and soon the doctor of the athletic team. At the end of the nineties, he started working in the national swimming team and the Mladost swimming club, and participated in the Olympic Games for the first time (Sydney 2000). In 2006, he became the doctor of the Croatian national handball team and participated in further Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016) and all European and world championships of the national handball team to this day.
The experience of working in top clinical conditions, along with playing sports, helped him develop his original view of medicine and treatment, and working at the Polyclinic Holistera gives him the opportunity to integrate medical procedures in a new way . The term Integrative medicine perhaps best describes his aspirations, certainly with the ultimate goal – and that is the most successful treatment possible. A special area of his activity (along with successful pain treatment, acupuncture and bioresonance) are procedures for accelerating regeneration and revitalization, which significantly improve the quality of life at all ages and in all professions and activities.
Asst. Ph.D. Igor Čikara, specialist in radiology and ultrasound, after graduating from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb (1985), gained the experience of a mandatory internship in an emergency clinic, primary care clinics and a dialysis center. After completing his postgraduate studies in clinical pharmacology, he completed a specialization in radiology, and later a subspecialisation in ultrasound. From 2004 to 2019, he worked as the head of the Department of Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine and has been a long-term member of the liver and kidney transplant team for children and adults at KBC Rebro.
He defended his master’s degree on the topic “The significance of color doppler in the diagnosis of acute inflammation of the vermilion”, and his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Possibility of high-resolution USG in the display and monitoring of suspected microcalcification clusters.” He has experience as a senior lecturer at the University of Health, a post-doctoral student at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Osijek, a member of the HDR Board of Directors, secretary of the Croatian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, he was the deputy head of the Clinical Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the KBD Zagreb, an invited lecturer at postgraduate studies and continuing education courses at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Maja Romić graduated from School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2014. As a student and through her work experience, she actively participates in numerous educations and congresses and she is the co-author of several professional and scientific papers.
After three years of specialization in orthopedics in Sweden, due to a combination of life and family circumstances, she returned to Croatia and, through extensive foreign education, became familiar with integrative medicine, where she discovered all the advantages of a holistic approach to treatment and healing.
Therefore, he finishes a one-year course in naturopathic nutrition and enrols in psychotherapy studies, majoring in logotherapy. Aware of the importance of combining classical and integrative medicine with the goal of healing, she tries to guide patients on this path, not only as a doctor, but also as a companion.
Bacc. Physioth. Daria Tresić graduated from high school as a physiotherapist technician at the School of Health in Split in 2010., and in 2013 she studied physiotherapy at the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb. Through six years of work in private practices, she encounters a wide range of conditions and illnesses that require further training and the acquisition of new skills. Motivated by the desire to help patients in a better way, she carries out further education through courses and various workshops, and as the most important, she emphasizes education for myofascial relaxation therapists and Bowen therapy therapists. Bowen therapy, which belongs to the field of complementary medicine and is based on the fact that the human body is capable of self-healing, is a turning point in her view of man as a holistic being.
She recently completed training in the basics of regional hyperthermia, and together with the rest of the team, she guides patients through their individual treatment program on a daily basis. Through work and communication with patients, she makes sure that hyperthermia treatments are maximally successful, and that patients feel safe and relaxed.
Bacc. med. tech. Irena Kaurinović graduated from Vinogradska Nursing School in 1995, and in 2007. from Nursing studies at the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb. Since 1995, she worked at the Department of Abdominal Surgery of the Clinical Hospital Dubrava as a ward nurse. During her work experience, she took part in numerous educations in the country and abroad, actively participated in congresses with professional and scientific papers, and as a mentor of practical classes worked with students at several nursing studies (University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb, Catholic University and University North). For the last ten years, she held the position of Head Nurse of the Department of Abdominal Surgery, and later of the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery.
After many years of working with oncology patients and other chronic diseases, she recognizes the key role of holistic treatment and treatments that help patients, without harmful effects. Her expertise, and especially her warmth and cordiality in dealing with patients, have followed her throughout her entire working experience, and that is exactly why she is an important part of the Polyclinic Holistera team.
Med. Tech. Antonio Glamočak completed a four-year education at Health and veterinary school dr. Andrija Stampar in 2008. After completing his education, he did an internship at KB Dubrava, where he immediately got a job. He worked at KB Dubrava for 14 years, of which he spent 7 years at the Department of Abdominal Surgery, and another 7 years in the operating center of KB Dubrava.
By working at KB Dubrava, he acquired knowledge and skills in working with oncology patients and various surgical diseases and conditions. He applies the acquired knowledge in his daily work, he is a caring and reliable technician and colleague, who always has a smile and a word of encouragement for the patients of the Polyclinic Holistera.
Bac. med. technical Anita Razum graduated from Vinogradska Nursing School in 1995, and in 2013. from Nursing studies at the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb. Since 1995, she has worked in the Intensive Care Unit of the KBC Sestre Milosrdnice. During her work experience, she participated in numerous trainings, congresses and professional and scientific works. From 2021 to 2023, she performed her work as head nurse in the Intensive Care Unit of the Special Hospital Radiochirurgia Zagreb.
Through many years of work, she acquired knowledge that she currently applies at the Polyclinic Holistera. With her expertise and knowledge, she ensures the quality of therapy, and her cheerfulness and compassion help patients feel comfortable and safe.
